Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate field or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience plus three to five years’ experience working in the community or in education with community organizations. Strong interpersonal skills, problem solving skills, technical skills, and the ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with students, faculty, and staff. Demonstrated experience with civic engagement programs and community agencies. Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and professionals from both the Oakland University campus and community organizations. A strong attention to detail is required to develop, manage, maintain, and grow relationships with community organizations. Ability to work with ethnically and culturally diverse populations. Skill in operating a computer and various supporting software packages. Excellent organizational and analytical skills. This position will involve travel to required off-site meetings and events. A cell phone is required.

Desired Qualifications

A Master’s degree in an appropriate field is preferred. Demonstrated experience with an online student record system such as Banner. Ability to create and maintain databases and websites. Skill in program coordination including communication, organization, facilitation and independent decision making. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects independently. Ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities. Experience in building relationships with education, business, civic and community organizations to advance community service and volunteerism.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Purpose

The position will strategically cultivate and assess community partnerships to build a foundation for advancing community service engagement (volunteer opportunities) for members of the University community. The position will coordinate with other entities on campus to develop and support programs and initiatives that promote a campus culture of engagement.
